Abstract

Energy Conservation Law, adopted in 1997, amended in 2007 and went into effect from 1 April 2008, is an important law in the field of energy in China and it plays a positive role in solving the problem of lacking energy in China. However, as the market economy develops, the current Energy Conservation Law has revealed its defects and insufficiencies that are in urgent need to be amended and perfected when facing the problems occurring during the process of energy production and consumption. This article reviews the changing process of the legislation of energy conservation in China, presents the main content of the current Energy Conservation Law of China, analyzes the major problems of current legislation of energy conservation and proposes legal recommendations for the perfection of the legislation of energy conservation henceforth.
