Abstract

Taking advantage of the unique characteristic of path coverage, a method based on hierarchy has been proposed for path coverage control strategy. Through analyzing the order that sensor nodes detect target objects, the sensor node hierarchy model and correlation model are established without ignoring any target objects. Furthermore, the coverage control strategies with two optimal objectives that are the balance of energy consumption and the number of active sensor nodes have been proposed. Comparing with the coverage control strategy based on redundant nodes, the proposed method achieves better characteristics in energy-efficiency, quality of service and lifetime-prolonging.
