Abstract

In order to improve the quality of radar images and accurately obtain planetary surface features, this paper apply visualization toolkit (VTK) to inverse synthetic aperture radar (ISAR) imaging of asteroids. First, we obtain the scattered echoes of the asteroids through the high-frequency statistical algorithm, and generate the ISAR images of the asteroids. Then, we rearrange the ISAR imaging data points according to the original terrain grid positions of the asteroids. Based on the automatic interpolation and facet coloring function of VTK, we further convert the data into the classic format of VTK to form the topographic image with clear outlines. The results show that the application of VTK to ISAR imaging is very effective to obtain high-quality and clear radar images, which further supports the target detection and recognition of radar remote sensing.
