Abstract

The spontaneous antiphase dynamics that occurs in a laser diode pumped multimode passively Q-switched microchip Yb:YAG lasers with a saturable absorber GaAs was discussed. It was observed that the pulse sequence of all the modes display an antiphase state as the pumping ratio rises. The multimode rate equations were modified to account for nonlinear absorption due to GaAs. It was shown that numerical simulations reproduce the observed antiphase dynamics state of two and three modes.
