Abstract
Some formation mechanisms of the phenomena of failure wave in glass are summarized and analyzed. According to the experimental results of glass and ceramics, the unbalanced growth of micro-cracks in the material is presented, which is the mechanism of the failure wave, based on the mechanism of 'in situ activation and growth' of the original micro-cracks. This mechanism is verified through numerical simulation.
