Abstract

The mechanism of reaction between explosive and aluminum particles was studied using a model of reaction of small aluminum particles in the detonation products. The thermal exchange between solid aluminum particles and detonation products, and the evaporation of aluminum were both considered. The fluid dynamics method was used to study the reaction of single aluminum particle during the explosive process. The reaction dynamics of aluminum particles during the process were gained, and the effect of relative velocity on the reaction was analyzed. The result shows that the reaction takes place at the windward side firstly, and the reaction time linearly increases with the particles' diameter.
