Abstract

Although traditional long-term integration methods ensure the detection performance for weak target, the acquisition time required increases, no matter how strong the echo signal intensity is. An improved multiple threshold decision method is proposed based on hybrid coherent and non-coherent integrations, where threshold detection is applied after each non-coherent integration with corresponding derived threshold. In so doing, target with relatively large accumulated signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) can be detected directly after a certain non-coherent integration segment if the SNR exceeds the corresponding threshold, leading to a faster detection time for different output SNR range without sacrificing the detection probability.
