A method of automatic generation of assembly dimension chains based on information cells

Abstract

In order to solve the problem of automatic generation of assembly dimension chains, a new method based on information cells is proposed. First, a hierarchical assembly model is established, the dimension & tolerance information cells and assembly constraint cells are built. Meanwhile, tolerance information is normalized. After that, the transfer diagram of assembly relations is constructed based on the relationship between information cells, and the assembly dimension chain is generated with consideration of the searching priority. Finally, a prototype system is developed based on CATIA V5 platform, and an example is given to prove that the proposed method can effectively improve the accuracy and success rate of the automatic generation of assembly dimension chains.
