Abstract
The quest for high-energy-density materials (HEDMs) based on transition metal complexes is focused on low-coordinate species. High-coordinate analogues are extremely rare. Here, the first example of a highly energetic complex (HEC) with the highest coordination number of eight in 3d metal coordination chemistry is reported. Its structure was confirmed by single crystal X-ray diffraction. Its remarkably high stability has also been investigated.
