Abstract

This paper presents a compact dual-beam monopole antenna loaded with artificial electromagnetic material for 26 GHz MIMO application. A monopole antenna and arrays of metamaterial are integrated on a 26.5 mm × 21mm × 0.508mm Rogers 5880 substrate. A novel ground plane is designed as reflector to improve the gain of the antenna. The stub-loaded H-shaped unit provides a high refractive index to alter the direction of the radiation for dual beam. The simulation results show that dual-beam radiation has maxima at ± 30° with respect to broadside direction (0°), zero depth of antenna radiation can reach -3.64 dBi and a maximum peak gain is 9.1 dBi at 26 GHz.
