Abstract

An explosively formed penetrator (EFP) with fins has the advantages of stable flight and deep penetration. On the basis of analyzing several possible approaches to form an EFP with fins, a three-dimensional numerical simulation using the AUTODYN-3D software was carried out on two typical structures including special cases and multi-point ignition. Then, EFPs with satisfactory shapes were obtained. The calculation results can be used in the design of EFP warheads.
