Abstract

Aiming at the problems of high cost and low efficiency faced by traditional solar seawater desalination,this study points out that the main influencing factors are the serious separation of various components in seawater desalination systems,the lengthy energy transmission path,and the mismatch between high-temperature solar heat collection technology and seawater desalination systems. By exploring the relationship between the cost of solar thermal seawater desalination and concentrating efficiency,water production rate,thermal performance coefficient ηGOR and other factors,it is pointed out that solar concentrating direct heating,near zero heat capacity evaporation,cascade utilization of energy quality,multiple utilization of energy,multipurpose system and direct combination with users are the key paths to realize the low-cost and large-scale application of solar seawater desalination technology.
