Abstract

First,the life prediction methods for the SRM (solid rocket motor) in Russian and American have been reviewed in this paper.Second,the research progress on the prediction method of the SRM service life in China is summarized,including the main points for life prediction(one failure criteria, two models and three consistency),major failure mode, failure criteria,and life prediction method for the grain,propellant and bonding interface.Third,the emphasis on the service life prediction for the SRM in the future has been proposed.Therefore,the failure mechanism,ascertaining the failure criteria and consummating the life prediction model on the basis of developing the monitoring and detecting technology.Finally,four urgent problems to be solved for considering the SRM safety use have been pointed out.The life prediction of the SRM service life is summarized and prospected in our country.
