abstract = "The Ziv-Zakai bound (ZZB) for two-dimensional (2D) wideband direction-of-arrival (DOA) estimation of a single source under subband model is investigated. The regularity conditions and the minimum error probability for 2-D wideband ZZB are derived first, along with its closed-form expression. In the asymptotic region with high signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), the derived ZZB approaches the Cram{\'e}r-Rao bound (CRB). In contrast, in the prior performance region with a low SNR, the estimation error is distributed throughout the entire prior parameter space, and thus ZZB depends on the prior covariance matrix. Simulation results indicate that the derived ZZB provides a better performance benchmark than the widely accepted CRB in terms of tightness and effectiveness.",
