Theoretic research on optical pulse compression by using photonic crystal fiber

摘要

The optical pulse compression by using a photonic crystal fiber with high nonlinear coefficient is discussed theoretically. The high quality optical pulses compression can be obtained by a fiber of shorter length. According to the limitation of such method for pulse compression, a novel method by using nonlinear optical loop mirror based on crystal fiber for pulse compression is proposed. The theoretical results show that the optical pulse with low peak power itself can be compressed by using such method. Compare with the optical compression by using a photonic crystal, the higher quality optical pulse compression can be got by using this method. And the pedestal which is generated during the course of pulse compression can be inhibited efficiently by using the nonlinear optical loop mirror based on crystal fiber through choosing the reasonable parameters of the control optical pulses.
