N2 - Future personal mobile communications demand global communication ability of satellite networks. Double-Layered satellite networks consisting of LEO and MEO satellites have flexible architecture and good communication performances. A hierarchical and distributed routing algorithm for double-layered satellite networks is presented. Through controlled floods of link state information, LEO satellites collect local topology information to transmit short-distance traffics. MEO satellites need total topology information of the whole network to route long-distance traffics. The residual lifetime of inter-satellite links (ISLs) is introduced into path weight calculation in our routing algorithm. Simulation results show that our routing algorithm has good performance in end-to-end delay, routing over-head and traffic flow distribution, and it is easy be implemented.
