Research on the thermal modeling of the in-wheel motor (IWM) based on the LPTN method

摘要

In-wheel motors (IWMs) are widely used in electric vehicles due to their high transmission efficiency. To ensure safe operation, accurate temperature field calculations are essential. This paper establishes a thermal model for in-wheel motors with fewer temperature nodes using the Lumped Parameter Thermal Network (LPTN) method, based on common structural configurations. The model's accuracy is validated through prototype testing. Furthermore, the influence of coolant inlet temperature on the steady-state winding temperature is analyzed, providing insights for optimizing in-wheel motor design and vehicle parameter matching.
