Mixed-mode fracturing of concrete - Numerical and experimental study using SCCD specimens

摘要

In this project, mixed-mode I-II fracturing of concrete has been investigated by using semi-circular chevron disk (SCCD) specimens. The numerical simulations have been done by using FRANC2D to analyze the experimental results. It was found that the notch crack initiation angle θ is a function of the notch crack inclination angle β. The crack initiation position changes when β ≥ 30° as the tensile stress and the shear stress leading to crack initiation extends along the upper side of the notch crack.
