摘要
We report progress in the use of micro-pixellated light-emitting diode ('micro-LED') arrays for POF - based data transmission. These devices consist of arrays of individually-addressable pixels with dimensions ≤ 100 μm, with electrical-to-optical bandwidths of up to 450 MHz per pixel. Recent progress in utilizing several CMOS-controlled micro-LEDs to transmit data in parallel at up to 1.5 Gbit/s is shown, as well as the novel use of periodically nano-patterned organic films to modify the emission properties of LEDs for applications including POF data transmission.
