Investigation of a new cathode for proton conducting electrolyte SOFC

摘要

Herein a new cathode material Ba0.5Sr0.5 Al0.09Fe0.91O3-δ (BSFA) is developed for application in Intermediate Temperature Solid Oxide Fuel Cells (IT-SOFC) based on proton conducting electrolyte BaZr0.1Ce0.7Y0.2O3 (BZCY). X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) has shown BSFA and BZCY are chemically stable at a high temperature. The electrochemical performance was tested by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. The polarization resistance of BSFA cathode with BZCY electrolyte was 0.175 Ω cm2 and the maximum power density (Pmax) of an anode supported single cell reached 287 mW cm-2 at 750 °C. All the tests confirm the good performance of the BSFA cathode for proton conducting oxide electrolyte.
