Information Embedding Design for the Joint MIMO Radar and Communications via FH Code Selection

摘要

In this paper, we study the problem of embedding communication symbols into the fast-time waveform transmission of the transmit beamspace-based multiple-input multiple-output radar, wherein an improved strategy using frequency-hopping (FH) code selection is devised. The strategy is developed based on the considerations of the radar ambiguity function, the communication symbol error rate and waveform orthogonality. Using the definition of distance that represents the repetition of FH codes, it firstly generates an optimal dictionary with the largest distances. Then, it properly positions the FH codes in all code vectors by means of optimization techniques. Simulation results verify the effectiveness of the proposed design.
