Further study on the property of absorbing CO2 with Li 2ZrO3 material

摘要

Lithium zirconate (Li2ZrO3) materials were synthesized from two different structured zirconium oxide (ZrO2), monoclinic ZrO2 (ZrO2(m)) and tetragonal ZrO2 (ZrO2(t)), and their absorption rate of CO2 were compared. The results showed, in 20% CO2 (80% Air) atmosphere, their absorption abilities were significantly different where the ZrO 2(t)-synthesized material evidently absorbed at a faster rate than the ZrO2(m)-synthesized one. The ZrO2(t)-synthesized Li2ZrO3 reached absorption equilibrium after being kept for 3 h at 500°C in 20% CO2 (80% Air) atmosphere, and attain to absorption capacity of 25(±0.6)%(wt). While at the same conditions, the absorption capacity for ZrO2(m)-synthesized Li2ZrO 3 is only 9(±0.6)%(wt). In addition, the effects on the structure of Li2ZrO3 and the absorption capability of CO2 from the amount of Li2CO3 in the reactants were investigated. Doping potassium (K) impacted the CO2 absorption rate of the Li2ZrO3 synthesized from ZrO2(t) slightly, but obviously on the Li2ZrO3 synthesized from ZrO2 (m), and the absorption rate reached peak value at Li 2CO3:ZrO2:K2CO3=1:1:0.03.
