摘要

Configuration and performance comparisons were conducted between the regulated two-stage turbocharging system with an outside butterfly valve and the other one with an inside wastegate. The two-stage turbocharging system with the inside wastegate occupied less space, but the two turbine cases should be redesigned. The test results show that the system with the outside butterfly valve has regulation ability for more mass flow, and can make the high pressure stage turbine run at idle speed. The system with the inside wastegate can bypass more than 30% total mass flow.
