摘要

Heat generation behavior is of great significance for the design of both battery cell and thermal management system. In the available literature, there is no report comparing thermal behaviors among different types of lithium ion batteries. In this work, heat generation power of the LFP-C and NCM-C lithium ion battery cells are evaluated using an extended-volume accelerating rate calorimetry. From the map of battery heat generation power, it is found that for the lithium ion battery with certain materials and formulas, there exists an obvious heat generation boundary which is in a power function with the temperature. For the comparison between these two different batteries, experimental results show that the variation tendency of heat generation power between the NCM-C and LFP-C batteries are totally different. In addition, the battery with a NCM cathode exceeds that with a LiFePO4 cathode in specific volume heat generation power.
