Calculation of Inter-Turn Short Circuit Current of a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Machine

摘要

This paper presents a deeply and comprehensive research on modeling and calculation of inter-turn short circuit (ITSC) current of a permanent magnet synchronous machine (PMSM). In the analysis part, equivalent model is adopted to obtain the formula of short circuit current, considering different numbers of parallel branches, and inductances of fault part are deduced. Impacts of fault intensity and fault resistance on short circuit current are researched through finite element method (FEM). Calculation results obtained by formula of short circuit current and simulation results obtained by FEM are compared and good agreement are obtained. Besides, thermal characteristics under different ITSC fault resistances is also analyzed.
