N2 - Energy-storage technologies have rapidly developed under the impetus of carbon-neutrality goals, gradually becoming a crucial support for driving the energy transition. This paper systematically reviews the basic principles and research progress of current mainstream energy-storage technologies, providing an in-depth analysis of the characteristics and differences of various technologies. Additionally, a comprehensive summary of the economic characteristics of energy-storage technologies is presented. By evaluating the advantages and limitations of different energy-storage technologies, the potential value and application prospects of each in future energy systems are revealed, providing a scientific basis for the selection and promotion of energy-storage technologies. Furthermore, the paper summarizes the current applications of energy-storage technologies in power systems and the transportation sector, presenting typical case studies of energy-storage engineering demonstrations in China. These case studies offer valuable references for the development of related research in the field of energy storage.
