A Terahertz Fully Metallic Frequency-Scanning Leaky-Wave Antenna with Low Elevation Coverage and High Beam Scanning Rate

摘要

A terahertz fully metallic frequency-scanning leaky-wave antenna is proposed in this paper. The antenna primarily consists of a novel one-dimensional sliding symmetrical spoof surface plasmon polariton (SSPP) transmission line and staggered periodic modulation structure. Compared with traditional fully metallic SSPP transmission lines, the proposed fully metallic sliding symmetrical SSPP transmission line displays higher dispersion and low elevation coverage potential. The Open-Stopband (OSB) effect is suppressed by loading a periodic modulation structure with staggered arrangement on both sides. The simulation results show that the beam scanning range from - 78.5° to +26.5° is achieved in the band from 175 GHz to 220 GHz, with the beam scanning rate of 460.8°% and peak gain from 6.4 dBi to 11.7 dBi. The low elevation coverage and high beam scanning rate are realized.
