abstract = "This work proposes an input-independent LSB-repeating-based background offset calibration method for high-speed SAR ADCs employing ping-pong comparators. By repeating the LSB decision, it detects the offset mismatch between the two comparators and increases the overall resolution, regardless of the input signal statistics. During the LSB repeating process, a novel adaptive-average residue estimator is introduced for the repeated LSB decisions to further enhance the SNR. With the proposed techniques, a prototype 4GS/s 8b 4-channel time-interleaved ADC achieves a Walden FoM of 16.6 and 9.7fJ/conv-step with and without the reference and input buffers.",
