Abstract

The structure for star shaped ring networks featuring high-speed channel bit-rate and long communication distance was discussed. The narrow range tunable laser diode for novel protection mechanism in optical stars was studied. The analysis showed that the high speed star shaped ring network was suitable for metro network and access networks.
