Abstract

Taking into account the intrinsic feature of multimode antenna's modal outputs as well as the unique property of fully-noncircular signals, an ESPRIT-like closed-form direction of arrival (DOA) estimation method is proposed. By using only one single compact multimode antenna, this method does not involve complicated element-position calibration, and is attractive when space for array arrangement is very small. Computer simulations are performed to validate the proposed method.
