Abstract
A low-noise ring fiber laser using high Erbium-doped fiber was demonstrated. By analyzing the output spectra of former configurations, a problem was indicated, and an improved loop structure to eliminate the background noise was proposed. Experimental results show that there is no background in the output laser, and the merits are explained. The influences of Erbium-doped fiber, pump power, wavelength and reflectivity of fiber grating on the outputs are investigated. The wavelength of this laser can be continuously tuned from 1525 nm to 1565 nm.
