Abstract

A hypothesis to take the physical channel and Turbo decoder as a joint equivalent AWGN channel was presented. On the basis of this hypothesis, the SNR (signal-to-noise ratio) of the Turbo decoder output LLR (logarithm likelihood ratio) can be used as a criterion to stop the iterative procedure. In order to reduce the decoder complexity, the symbol whose LLR is larger than a given threshold can be decided for output. A method to determine the theoretical value of threshold was given.
