Abstract

Four kinds of explosives, RDX, HMX, TATB and ε-CL-20, are studied by using Accelerating Rate Calorimeter (ARC). Their exothermic behaviors are described. The mechanisms of the thermal decomposition are discussed briefly and their kinetic parameters are determined in the present paper. The values of the activation energies of RDX, HMX, TATB and ε-CL-20 are 267.40, 368.66, 387.76 and 592.96 kJ · mol-1 respectively, and their equations of compensation effect are respectively ln A = 0.2741E - 7.7087, ln A = 0.2414E - 7.1786, ln A = 0.2063E - 9.7128 and ln A = 0.2497E - 6.7068.
