Abstract
Aim To set up the mathematical models in time domain for acoustic emission sources and signals of turning tool crack in turning cutting process. Methods Based on the generalized Hooke's law conservation, acoustic emission energy model of tool crack extension was set up. According to energy conservation principle, by means of Parseval's theorem the time domain mathematical model of acoustic emission signal in the process of turning tool crack was established. Results Acoustic emission mathematical model in process of turning tool was given. Factors influencing the characteristics of acoustic emission signal in the process of turning tool crack were analyzed and their relations were explained. Conclusion Reliable theoretical basis is provided for monitoring turning tool crack using acoustic emission measurement technology.
