Abstract

Aim To analyze the mechanism of acoustic emission generated in intermetallic friction and wear and derive, the mathematical relation between acoustic emission signal and wear volume. Methods Based on describing the plastic work power of metal cutting processing, in consideration of acoustic emission generation of tool wear process, the plastic work power of the three deformation regions in turning process was discussed as an example of perpendicular cutting process. Results A mathematical model of the relation between acoustic emission energy quota and external cutting conditions was established. Conclusion It provides the theoretical basis for correctly identifying cutting tool states.
