Abstract

As a power source for solid rocket engines, solid propellants play an important role in rocket and missile applications. Since the advent of solid propellants, a lot of research has been done and a complete theoretical system has been established. In this chapter, the development history, main classification and main components of solid propellants are briefly introduced in order to make readers have an intuitive understanding of such materials.
