Abstract

The bionic polarized light compass was made based on the compound eyes' structure of the desert ants. According to the theoretical output formula of the compass, the error analysis of the compass was carried out. The results show that the relative proportional coefficient, the error angle of the polarization direction between any two channels and the zero deviation value of the system will affect the calculation of the polarization azimuth angle. But the degree of polarization will not affect the theoretical calculation value of the polarization azimuth angle. The error calibration experiment was designed in order to calculate the compensation parameters of the related error sources. The inverse calculation result of the polarization azimuth angle proved the validity of the compensation parameters.
