Abstract

In this paper, a 77 GHz Frequency Modulated Continuous Wave (FMCW) Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) obstacle avoidance radar system based on Time-Division Multiplexing Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (TDM-MIMO) is proposed. The system cascades multiple radar sensing chips and utilizes an FPGA as the control chip for parameter configuration and data acquisition. A complete signal processing algorithm is implemented, including the improved Smallest-of Constant False Alarm Rate (SO-CFAR) algorithm. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed system achieves high-resolution target detection in distance, velocity, and angle, which enhances the UAV's obstacle avoidance capability in complex environments.
