Abstract
A novel soft segment and hard segment co-modified waterborne polyurethanes(FOWPU) was synthesized with Exolit OP550 and N'N-bis (2-hydroxymethyl) aminoethyl phosphonic acid dimethyl ester(Fyrol-6) reacted with toluene diisocynate, and the structure of FOWPU was characterized by FT-IR. Transmission electron microscopy was utilized to observe the morphology of FOWPU disperion particles. The stability, the viscosity, the water absorption, and the mechanical properties were tested respectively. The results show that the particles in the latex are found to be uniformly-distributed, and the FOWPU emulsion is good in stability. At the same time, with the increase of flame retardant contents, the co-modified polyurethane possesses better performances in water absorption and flame resistance, but the mechanical properties of the materials are decreased.
