Synthesis and characterization of task-specific acidic ionic liquids

Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

Several water-stable and task-specific Bronsted-acidic ionic liquids were synthesized, each system consisting of the methyl pyridinium ion ([MPy]+), or quaternary ammonium ion ([Et3NH]+), or sultone pyridinium ion ([SPy]+) as the cation, and either dihydric phosphate (H2PO4-), or bisulfate ion (HSO4-), or nitrate ion (NO3-) as the anion. They were characterized by nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), infrared spectrum (IR), and electrospray ionization mass spectrum (ESI-MS). It was confirmed that their structures were consistent with the designed structure and their purities were more than 95%. So the method of synthesis and purification is proved to be proper.
