Abstract
A new zinc phosphate cluster Ni(2,2′-bipy)3·[ZnCl- (H2PO4)3] (1) was obtained by the hydrothermal reaction of ZnO, H3PO4, NiCl2·6H 2O, 2,2′-bipyridine(2,2′-bipy) and H2O in a molar ration of 1:1.9:0.5:1.5:126. The structure of 1 is made of [ZnCl(H 2PO4)3] clusters that are separated by nickel complexes. The compound is novel in the sense that it is the first zinc phosphate cluster with metal complexes acting as structure-directing agents. Crystal data: trigonal, space group = R3c (no. 167), a = 13.2407(3), c = 74.034(3) Å, V = 11240.5(6) Å3, Z =12.
