Abstract

Many researchers have devoted their research to potassium ion batteries (KIBs), increasing over the past 5 years. Among the materials in the earth's crust, potassium is seventh in the top ten lists of abundant elements. KIBs have tremendous attraction due to their availability, inexpensiveness, excellent conductivity, and operating voltage. However, the significant problems in commercializing KIBs are associated with their high reactivity, severe side reactions, limited capacity, dendrite growth, and safety issues. To overcome these issues, exploring opposite electrode materials with rousing electrochemical behaviour for further development of KIBs are essential. Hence, in this work, we review the different types of anodes for non-aqueous KIBs, and the better anode electrode materials for KIBs are highlighted.
