Abstract

The design of a SGSA (super-Gaussian serrated aperture) was proposed in this paper. The diffraction features were characterized for the special serrated aperture by using numerical computation. The spatial frequency of a plane wave through the SGSA and the spatial profile produced by a plane wave through the SGSA after the spatial filter were illustrated. Light beam through the SGSA can be transformed into almost ideal super-Gaussian beam after passing the spatial filter, and the transmission of the super-Gaussian beam is stable. Application of the SGSA in high power laser system is being studied.
