Abstract

The joining and separating device using magnesium alloy band has simple structure and unlocks reliably, and is widely used in the space launching fields. To study the unlocking process of this device affected by the flow of rocket exhaust, the exhausted flow and heat transfer are simulated by using the numerical method firstly. Secondly, considering the material attributes, the load force and temperature, the factors influencing magnesium alloy band breaking are analyzed. It is shown that the load fore and temperature are the main factors of magnesium alloy band breaking and the device unlocking. Thirdly, the conclusion is certified by some experiments. Furthermore, an estimate model is built to forecast the unlocking time of this device, according to one dimensional gas flow model and one dimensional heat transfer model.
