Abstract
In this paper, an experiment system, which is composed of an ultraviolet laser pulse generator, a spectrometer, a photomultiplier tube (PMT), and a signal processing system, is demonstrated for measuring the time characteristic of laser-induced fluorescence of engine oil. The measurement theory is analyzed, and the way to measure the time-resolved fluorescent spectra and the fluorescent life-time is proposed. The time-resolved fluorescent spectra and the fluorescent life - time of a kind of widely-used engine oil named Yanshan™ engine oil are measured.
