Abstract

The system structure and working principle is described briefly which integrate the active front steering (AFS) system and electric power steering (EPS) system. According to the principle and the necessary simplification of the integrated system, the integrated system mathematic model was given. To study the impact of variable gear ratio (VGR) on active damping control of EPS, the matlab simulation was carried out. Simulation results show that variable gear ratio has only a minor impact on the active damping control of electric power steering system; the original active damping control can still be used normally without changes.
