Abstract

Because the warhead located in the head of the submunition while the fuse is at the tail, and the warhead has a much larger diameter than the fuse part, the workplace flow field of turbine used on the submunition fuse is complex and special. Considering the overall layout of the turbine generator and ballistic environment of the submunition, the computing models of the flow field were obtained by fluent, with the Reynolds-averaged N-S equations, finite volume discretization format and S-A single formulation turbulent model respectively. The simulation results indicate the characteristics of the workplace flow field of turbine generator for the typical conditions of the falling submunitions and the relationship between the workplace flow field characteristics and the ballistic characteristics of submunitions. The input conditions of turbine design and some guidelines of turbine installation position based on the simulation results were obtained.
