Abstract

Weak acidic ion-exchange fiber was synthesized by the grafting copolymerization of acrylic acid (AA) onto pre-irradiated polypropylene (PP) fiber by 60Co-γ. IR, SEM, XRD and mechanical properties, determinations of titration curve, absorption dynamics, swelling property and chemical stability were used to characterize the structure and appearance of PP-g-AA fiber. The results show that the weak acidic ion-exchange fiber has a high exchange capacity, quick adsorption and desorption velocity, finer mechanical capability and chemical stability. It is a kind of materials with excellent properties.
