Abstract

Cavitation flow around a disc cavitator was studied experimentally by companying high speed visualization, laser light sheet flow visualization and strain/electronic measuring technology. The results show that four cavitating flow regimes are observed with the increase of main velocity, transition flow, incipient cavitation, band cavitation and grouping cavitation. The resistance coefficient of the disc gradually decreases. Especially, the decreasing grads of the resistance coefficient are consistent with changing of fluctuating range. However, the frequency of the resistance keeps stable basically.
