Abstract

Analyzing the characters of gasoline prices behavior is helpful to understand the formation mechanism of gasoline price. In this paper, the gasoline price dynamics is investigated by applying the Zipf-type analysis. Based on the directionality (sign) of price fluctuations, two critical points have been found, which could be used to mark undergone phase transitions. The results are helpful to avert price risk and instruct the transactions of different agents.
